A taste of Walla Walla terroir has arrived in Seattle with the grand opening of the Browne Family Vineyards (BVF) tasting room this past February. Located in the historic Seller building in Pioneer Square (411 1st Ave. S.), this 775 square-foot space received an updated interior detailed in dark wood, leather, antique brass lighting, and modern bar stools. With a mission to preserve the look of the building’s 1906 construction (designed by legendary Seattle architect A. Warren Gould), interior designer Steffany Hollingsworth of HVL Interiors sought to maintain a Northwest-inspired feel throughout the design. By installing family-centered art pieces such as a unique installation of books featuring a drawing of the Browne grandfather, and a collage of memorabilia showcasing the Browne family’s wine story, the values of family and heritage that BFV highlights in their company story were thoroughly upheld in the design.
The new space will serve exclusive wines and varietals limited to tasting room patrons, provide an event space for gatherings, and it marks the first BFV tasting room in Seattle. Its sophisticated take on the tasting room interior is a welcome addition to a neighborhood that was once only bustling during the Seattle sports season—now, wine drinkers won’t be left out of tailgating territory.
