The June/July issue of GRAY heads to newsstands this week. The cover, photographed by Olga Urbanek, features a silk robe with a pattern based on wild Icelandic flora by textile designer Signý Þórhallsdóttir, founder of fashion label Morra. The issue theme "remastered" gave us the opportunity to look back to look forward. Read about how the past 100 years have influenced the current state of design, how avid midcentury-modern enthusiasts Brett Woods and Joseph Dangaran pay homage to L.A.s’ architectural heritage, and how the architects at Taller Capital rethought public spaces. Design writer Heidi Mitchel reports on the design scene in Chicago, nonagenarian architect Gerald Luss provides input on a collaborative design exhibition staged in his former home, and many more features.
