DROP WATCH: CALEN KNAUF STUDIO’S LATEST PIECE IS BRISTLY

Art meets function in the Brush Table, Calen Knauf Studio’s most recent launch.

designer side tables that look like giant scrub brushes

The deceptively sturdy occasional table by Calen Knauf Studio, available in two sizes, resembles a giant scrub brush. Circles of wispy bamboo broom bristles radiate from the center of the surface to form the base, which creates a structure strong enough to sit on. The tabletop is waxed ash with a bullnose edge.

“The menagerie of active and subconscious thoughts manifested by this table is what I am after,” says Calen Knauf, designer. “There is nothing more satisfying than assuming something like the Brush table might feature steel legs shrouded by decorative brush and then finding out it is bristles through and through.”
