THIS PAST SEPTEMBER, THE BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION DISCOVERY CENTER DEBUTED DESIGN WITH THE 90%, AN EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTING DESIGN INITIATIVES THAT HELP MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES AROUND THE GLOBE. The annual design show—organized by Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City since 2007—showcases over 25 projects of design innovation that provide shelter, food, sanitary water, and health solutions to disadvantaged communities. The exhibition features Washington-based company, BURN Design Lab who created BURN Cookstoves, energy and cost efficient stoves for countries impacted by deforestation. The exhibition also features international work from the female engineered app HarassMap, which allows women in Cairo to report acts of sexual harassment.
The exhibition will be on display through May 11, 2019.[
